Tastings going

The tastings going concept is adopted with the present trend art shows going.


 Food tasting, coffee tasting, wine glass tasting...whatever you name it!

Apart from "The sensation of flavour perceived in the mouth and throat on contact with a substance", tasting also means "a brief experience of something, conveying its basic character" (Oxforddictionaries.com, n.d.). The tastings allow people to have a more rounded, in depth experience of the topic or the theme of the tasting. These tastings usually back up with a brief history, overview, or some general knowledge of that topic or theme. Using a very common tasting - wine tasting as example, there is always a wine list document with an overview of the wines for people to taste, such as their origin, winery, use of ingredients, what aroma the wine provides and so on. Without having some general knowledge of the topic would limit the appreciation of such topic.

Concept's significance to company and customer

This concept let company to attract potential customers and find sales leads. It is very useful for customer relationship building and management since the tasting blurred the line between business and customers; at the event the business side become more like a friend who share knowledge and experiences. For customer side, people can gain more understanding and information of the company and its products, meanwhile the decision of buy or not after experiencing the products are more in their control (comparing to when people go to a store, after asking or trying something with the help of salesperson, they would often asked by the salesperson of closing a deal).
