Trend Analysis

A trend can be broken down into different scales. Below is a chart that shows their life span and the level of its influence and diffusion.

These trends need to satisfy a few features:
1.       At least 10 to 30 years
2.       Need to have the possibility to go global
3.       Influence on several generations

Two trends from the past, two from the present and one in the future (prediction) are analysed with the above Trends Pyramid and features (Stappers et al, 2003)

Past trends: Game Boy and Harlem Shake
Present trends: art shows going and behind the scenes marketing
Future trend: virtual home
